A lot of you are pretty motivated to make 2011 XC season your best yet. I am still excited from last week's meeting and all the new runners we have attracted. We had 33 people come and give me their contact information and I feel confident we will be able to keep most of those. If you consider that is only 3 classes worth of kids and doesn't include freshman... we are looking good for 2011. With all this Title IX business and changes that are going to happen regarding funding for teams, one thing that doesn't lie is participation. I want more girls than soccer and volleyball, more boys than soccer and more people than football. We have to be doing things right if every year we attract more and more kids to b healthy, have fun, and challenge and learn about themselves in a way they wouldn't have without XC.

I would like for those of you that just finished track to read the following article regarding time off after track.

I follow this blog and I believe a lot of the same things and methods prescribed by this coach. It makes sense. Read the blog and answer those questions about yourself honestly. It's a long haul from now till November and I expect you to be your absolute best at the State Championships, not a broken down version of yourself.

Enjoy some time, physically and mentally to recover. Then start doing some fun stuff that is training without feeling like it. Go for casual runs with friends, ride bikes, play ultimate frisbee, swim, hike, play basketball.... Have fun but stay moving!
